It is awesome to me that the writer of 2 Chronicles is already anticipating the sin of the Israelites and planning ahead for what they should do when they "come to themselves." When they come to themselves and turn back to You (God) with all their heart, then hear from heaven and turn to them. It is so beautiful. He knew we would sin. We must only "come to ourselves" and return our heart completely to Him and worship Him.

I was encouraged reading 2 Kings 8:41-43 “As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your name— 42 for they will hear of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm—when they come and pray toward this temple, 43 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Do whatever the foreigner asks of you, SO THAT ALL THE PEOPLES OF THE EARTH MAY KNOW YOUR NAME AND FEAR YOU, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name.

And 2 Kings 8:46a “When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin

It sounded so much like the writings of Paul to me.
